The typical “Pongauer” farmhouse was built in 1738 in Schwarzach. At this time, Schwarzach im Pongau was still a district of the town of Sankt Veit. After the removal of the farmhouse in 1988 it was built up in the of Sankt Veit in 1992 and opened 1994 as a museum.

Seelacken Museum Sankt Veit im Pongau – 4,000 years of history, from the “Bronze Age to the cultural experience”.

Many showrooms show the way of life of the locals from prehistory to the present.

You can see a large parlor with beautiful old wood beam ceiling and a old kitchen with the fireplace.

Four rooms are devoted to the author ThomasBernhard.  Every year in mid-October the “Thomas Bernhard Days“ are organized. Thomas Bernhard came first as a patient to St. Veit and learned to appreciate the picturesque resort. Then he spent many holidays in the village for writing.
Several special exhibitions and events complete the picture of Seelackenmuseums and ensure a fun filled holiday on the Salzburger Sonnenterrasse.
